Refrigerant R407A is commonly used in low and medium temperature refrigeration applications. It has earlier been used as a substitute for R22, for example.
R407A is an excellent and energy-efficient low-GWP gas suitable for many R404A systems. Energy savings of up to 10% have been reported in many systems. R407A also boasts a lower discharge temperature than other R404A replacements.
Both R407A and R407F are well-known replacements for R404A.

R407A is a substitute for R404A and, after an oil change, it can also serve as a replacement gas in some R22 systems.
Replacement or alternative refrigerants for R407A
R407A can be replaced with R449A, for example. It is suitable for direct-evaporative low and medium temperature applications, new installations and, as a replacement gas, existing systems.

R407A has been known for quite some time in the field of industry, where it has been used to replace many existing R404A systems. It is compatible with the same oils, elastomers and plastics as R404A (see list of properties below). Even so, R407A cannot serve as a direct replacement for R404A, as the differences in the compressor’s discharge temperature and the temperature elevation caused by R407A must be taken into account.
